We follow the Penpals handwriting scheme from nursery up to year 2. Children read books matched to their phonological ability both in school and at home. They are also encouraged to read a variety of texts to increase their love of reading. At school we have core books in each year group which to children share, read and enjoy.
We follow the DFE validated phonics teaching programme Super Sonic Phonic Friends which gives us flexibility to plan according to children's needs and enables us to match reading books to the children's phonic capability. Our teachers plan their own maths teaching, supported from schemes alongside their strong subject knowledge to successfully teach the key skills in this area.
We use Dimensions curriculum to plan, sequence and ensure progression of skills and knowledge across all foundation subjects. The school have worked with Dimensions to create our long term plans using the children as the starting point. Our children in EYFS follow the explorers curriculum and the children in KS1 follow the pathfinders curriculum.
